i will go for a written exam weeks later, so i am reading quite a lot for the moment.
reading comes with different style. for academic books, i usually start with the content page and get a brief idea of the book, then skim through the chapters.
but it takes quite a while to read through the whole book. or sometimes, the content page cannot tell me a thing at all.
this morning, when i was reading the last item on the book list, i recalled the most efficient way to read a book that i used very often in my undergraduate years.
Index pages at the end of the book!
first to spot the concepts that book cover most,
so i grasped the major ideas by going to the referring pages.
it was even faster than skimming through the whole book! (i wish i have not missed or twisted the major arguments... ...)
just appreciate the person who invented "index".
